FOV Police Merch is Now Available!
This build is my own personal build and I belive it may just be one of the best builds you can get for under $1500. I will be listing the components and breaking down why I'm so happy with the outcome. Is it perfect? No. It it a massive amount of fun? Yes.
Rather than cut all the corners possible to get to the lowest possible price, I carefully selected components that would provide the best balance between price and realism.
I have posted most of the component reviews on simsaver and the moza reddit, so this is going to be an overview of the rig as it came together.
Overall, this setup gets you a ton of bang for buck. 32" curved monitors (prices have gone up a bit since I purchased them) make for an extremely immersive experience. I did try 27" but found them to be a bit too small. Of course the Moza components are critical to an immersive experience. If you're on a budget I would suggest the ES wheel with the SR-P pedals. If you race formula or GT, spring for the KS wheel. It's much better than the ES, seeing that the size is more realistic. All of the moza components have held up great and they really feel professional, especially considering these aren't even their top of the line. I have the R9 V2 Wheelbase, and it hasn't left me wanting any more. I think this is the perfect middle ground between price and performance. I feel like the seat is one of the other components that make a huge difference. This Jeggs seat fits me like a glove and is very reasonably priced. I really didn't want to be sitting in a desk chair for something thats supposed to feel like a race car. And if you can afford a couple bass shakers, it feels incredible. I use one under the pedals and one behind the seat.
The zootopo frame is really amazing for the price. It's very solid, but I do get some motion on the monitor mounts. Pay close attention to where I mounted the monitors, because this is NOT how zootopo displays them. This setup brings them much closer to your wheel. I also put the whole setup on casters so that I can get to my utilities, seeing that this lives in my utility room.
I only added the 4th monitor since I had an extra laying around. I would skip this if I were on a budget. Using an old cell phone with simhub is a game changer as well.
