MOZA ESX Wheel Review
I have to say, I am very happy with this wheel. It’s definitely not the highest end wheel out there, but it provides excellent bang for the buck. It’s a perfect entry point at a price that will not break the bank. And if you want something a bit different you could even buy both the 13” wheel mod and the formula mod for less than their next offerings. I think it’s perfect for someone like myself who didn’t quite know what direction they would go. The size is small enough to pass for just about any style. The D shape wouldn’t have been my first choice, but it gets the job done, and is passable for drift and rally. It has plenty of buttons that I don’t know what to do with. If anyone knows of a guide of what the best assignment layout is, please let me know. The shifters are solid and feel nice. You can buy a kit to make them magnetic shifters, which I might end up doing, but it’s really not necessary.
The ESX wheel, as most people know, is NOT the same as the ES wheel that comes with the R5 Bundle. This is the version that is compatible with XBOX (I’m on PC so that doesn’t matter much to me). Other than the obvious white buttons and XBOX logo, the main difference is the material of the grip. The ESX wheel has a very hard rubber, while the ES wheel has a leather grip. The hard rubber is the one downside to this wheel. It doesn’t feel bad by any means, it just doesn’t feel as good as leather. The ES wheel ONLY comes with the R3 & R5 bundle, and cannot be purchased separately, making the ESX the only option if you want anything higher. I wanted the R9 base, so this was my best budget option.
Overall I’m extremely happy with my purchase. I will definitely upgrade soon, but I will likely buy the 13” wheel mod and the KS wheel. That way I have something for everything, and I’m still right around the $500 mark for everything. Not bad if you ask me.
